Australia's premier wine magazine Winestate Australia has announced its finalists fot its annual Wine of the Year Awards for the 2009 and it includes our own Cuttaway Hill Estate from the Southern Highlands, NSW. The 2006 Cuttaway Hill Chardonnay was named in the final four for the best Chardonay in Australia and New Zealand for 2009.

Last month Majella announced that they were the proud recipients of the Globe Hotel Group Trophy for Best Merlot at the 2009 Royal Hobart Wine Show. This is the first trophy for Majella at the Royal Hobart Wine Show and the first trophy for a Majella Merlot.

Young & Rashleigh featured well in James Halliday's Top 100 Wines of 2009 published in this month's The Weekend Australian. Wines that got the nod from Mr Halliday include the 2007 Dalwhinnie Shiraz, 2008 Majella Musican, 2007 West Cape Howe Cabernet Merlot and 2005 Geoff Merrill Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre.

Water Wheel's 2008 Memsie Homestead Red (Shiraz Cabernet Malbec) has just been awarded the Trophy for Best Blended Red or Varietal at the 2009 Victorian Wine Show. This is a big win for Water Wheel and Bendigo, who beat out some of the more high profile regions in Victoria like Geelong, Heathcote, Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and the Macedon Ranges.

Neudorf have beaten a large contingent of wineries from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to take home the Trophy for Best Chardonnay and the Trophy for Best White Wine in Show at the 2009 Tri Nations Wine Challenge.

Longview has just been named the winner of the Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc at the 2009 Hyatt/Advertiser SA Wine Awards for the 2009 Longview Whippet Sauvignon Blanc. Another major winner on the night was Grant Burge, which picked up the Trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon for the critically acclaimed 2006 Grant Burge Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon.
