Chard Farm
Central Otago, NZ
Chard Farm is located on a spectacular terrace above the Kawarau River Gorge. A family owned business, founded in 1987 by Rob Hay and Gerdi Schumann at the entrance to the Gibbston Valley. Originally the site was settled by the Chard family in the 1860 and market gardening provided food for the miners in the district during the gold rush. The winery itself was built in 1993 and has grown to ten company vineyards in the Gibbston Valley and Lowburn/Parkburn subregions of Central Otago today. Each of the vineyards is unique and provides distinctive and premium fruit. Central Otago offers an ideal environment for viticulture.
