Maison Thorin

Beaujolais-Villages AOC, the intermediate category in terms of classification, covers 39 villages in the Haut Beaujolais, the northern part of the region accounting for a quarter of production. It is a wine made from the red Gamay grape, and vinified by carbonic maceration, a winemaking technique in which whole grapes are fermented in a carbon dioxide rich environment prior to crushing. Benoit Thorin founded the Maison Thorin in 1843, the 40 year old vineyard is situated between Château de Montmelas and the river Rivolet, and is today owned and tended to by the Boisset family.
