Panul

Colchagua & Curico Valleys, CHILE

Panul means ‘hug’ in the language of the ancient indigenous inhabitants. Just as its name suggests, Panul wines are from select vineyard sites which hug the land from which they come from. The Colchagüa Valley is located on the southern slope of the Rapel Valley and has evolved in the last fifteen years from a quiet stretch of farmland to one of the largest and most active wine regions in the country. The relatively low elevation of the coastal hills allows the Pacific breeze to interact with the Andean winds, cooling the valley and prolonging the maturation period of the region which benefits the wine. The vast majority of the wine produced here is red, with a particular propensity for fine Carménère, although recent plantations in the Curico valley near the coast have also proven excellent for cold climate white wines such as Chardonnay. The Panul vineyards are located on a row of hills where there are more than 110 hectares of organic grapes.
