Three Ponds

Hunter Valley, NSW

Mount Eyre Vineyards is the premium Hunter Valley wine brand from owners, Dr Aniello Iannuzzi and Dr Eve Tsironis. Since purchasing their vineyards in 1999, the family’s philosophy is based on their vineyard’s different soil types, aspects, and the concept of ‘terroir’. Working in conjunction with longstanding vignerons, they have combined their approach to each of their exceptional vineyards to produce distinctive wines. The vineyards are in two outstanding Hunter Valley sub-regions. The Three Ponds vineyard is in Broke, which lies on the sandy loam river flats of Monkey Place Creek. Planted in 1970 by Neil Grosser, it is still carefully managed by Neil and his son David today. Over 30 acres are planted to semillon, chardonnay, shiraz and chambourcin. The Holman Estate is located at Pokolbin, 16 acres in the heart of the Hunter Valley. The deep red loams of this historically outstanding vineyard are planted to shiraz, merlot and now nero d’avola, and have proven their worth as the backbone of many great Hunter Valley red wines.
